Peace Places Around the World ~MAP~

The United States Military Budget exceeds nearly all the other countries in the world combined.
The U.S. Budget

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.", Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."  President & General Dwight D. Eisenhower

****************************************************************************************
Military Counseling Network is part of a non-military network of organizations that provides free counseling service to soldiers who are questioning going to war or want to know more about military discharges, regulations and getting out.  This group in Germany provides guidance, responds to questions, and helps find legal information for members of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force.

Some of the issues involved are covered by Fact Sheets:
. Military Regulations Overview
. Conscientious Objection Discharges
. Delayed Entry Programs
. Disability Discharge
. Entry Level Performance and Conduct Discharge
. Hardship of Dependency Discharge
. Homosexual Conduct Discharge
. Misconduct Discharge
. Other Designated Physical or Mental Conditions
. AWOL Information
. GI Rights:  Harassment, Complaints, etc.

This excellent work is supported by donations.  Presently the group has a Proposal for a GI Cafe` in Kaiserslautern, Germany.  There are dozens of bases and tens of thousands of soldiers throughout Germany who are essential to current military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and which will serve as launching pads for wars that may come in the future in eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

Go to the link:   To view the proposal for funding of the GI Cafe` to http://www.getting-out.de/proposal.pdf     This well-done proposal outlines:  . VISION of the founders of this group
. Population to be served -- an embassy of sorts whose counselors will be in direct contact with military personnel -- a safe-haven space for soldiers, veterans, and their families.
.  A place that will serve to help veterans reintegrate into German and American society.
.  Act as an incubator for a movement of people who dissent within the U.S. military

Content, Goals, Hopes Beyond Kaiserlautern and the Hope for Peace.
Personnel, Budget, with proposed income and sources included in the Proposal, as well as a Projected Timeline and Contact Sources.

THE INITIATING GROUP IS ASKING US TO HELP MAKE THE GI` CAFE A REALITY.
